How to crop a video
- Drop the video. A frame from the clip appears with a crop box over it.
- Choose the area. Drag the box or its corners, or pick an aspect ratio to lock the shape. Exact pixel values can be typed in.
- Crop and download. Only the selected region is encoded, so the file usually gets smaller too.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between crop and resize?
Cropping removes part of the picture and keeps the rest at its original pixel size. Resizing scales the whole picture up or down. To turn a landscape clip into a vertical one without black bars, crop it; to make the same picture smaller, resize it.
How do I remove black bars?
Choose the free aspect ratio and drag the crop box to cover only the picture, leaving the bars outside. The bars are gone from the result.
Does cropping reduce quality?
The kept region is re-encoded at a bitrate matched to the original, so it looks the same. The pixels themselves are not scaled.
Which aspect ratios are available?
Free, 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait posts, 16:9 widescreen and 4:3 classic. The box snaps to the ratio while you drag.
